UE Red Warriors eye fifth straight win

LEAGUE-leader University of the East eyes its fifth straight win when it faces University of the Philippines in the main game of the 70th University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Red Warriors battle the Fighting Maroons at 4 p.m.

UE hopes to keep its winning run after demolishing De La Salle, 96-76, on July 22. In that game, Joel Canizares scored 15 points on top of 7 rebounds while Mark Fampulme chipped in 11 points and 4 rebounds.

UP, on the other hand, seeks to barge into the win column. The Fighting Maroons remained winless after four outings, their last setback coming from defending champion University of Santo Tomas, 68-76, on July 21.

Playing at 2 p.m. are the National University Bulldogs and the Adamson University Falcons.

The Bulldogs are in solo fifth with a 2-3 win-loss record. They lost to the Tigers, 72-83, last Thursday.

The Falcons, who bowed to the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, 49-54, on July 22, are also winless after four games.
