MARVIN CRUZ outsmarted Macky Escalona at the most crucial stage of the game Saturday as Toyota Balintawak nipped Cebuana Lhuillier Pera Padala, 68-65, in Game 1 of their semis in the PBL Unity Cup at The Arena in San Juan.

“Honestly, that was the turning point of the game and perhaps the play that enabled Marvin to get back at Macky,” said a delighted coach Ariel Vanguardia. “But we’re just lucky to win the game.”
