The working environment, which includes the
aesthetics of an office and the prevailing mood inside the
boardroom, is a critical factor in a workplace since it can
determine the success or failure of a business. In competitive
times, a company must stay ahead and be focused on a unifying goal.
This is the reason why companies allocate investment in human
resource training through teambuilding activities that promote
camaraderie, and seminars that boost creativity and leadership.
The four corners of an office may
not be the appropriate venue to host a variety of
“morale-boosting” activities. In fact, management studies have
revealed a positive effect on individuals who undergo training in a
venue that offers a relaxed atmosphere and a green environment. A
change of scenery also enhances one’s creativity and
decision-making skills.
The Meralco Development Center (MMLDC),
located along Sumulong Highway in Antipolo City, is carving a
reputation as an ideal venue for learning, nature appreciation, and
development of one’s full potential. Dubbed as a “campus in the
hills” with “classrooms that extend into the forests,” MMLDC
is now the top choice for corporate training and events that go
beyond the usual setup of hotels, restaurants, resorts and
conference rooms.
The reputation of MMLDC as an
ideal training center was further underscored by Josiah Go, a
marketing educator and consultant connected with Mansmith and
Fielders Inc. He is also an entrepreneur and owner of Waters
Philippines.
“I first visited MMLDC courtesy
of a pharmaceutical firm many years ago when Mansmith did several
days of marketing strategy workshops. My initial impression is that
it has excellent outdoor training facilities,” said Go. Visibly
impressed with the first encounter, his company decided to transfer
the venue of their bi-annual outdoor leadership program for
distributors to MMLDC.
His decision was based on knowing
what MMLDC has to offer, such as world-class facilities, tastefully
designed rooms, the charm of a rainforest and Antipolo’s serene
hills. Add to that, his decision was based on his personal
experience, so to speak.
“I can jog in the morning in a
safe, pollution-free, garden-like environment before the start of
our seminars. The aviary is also a nice place to visit, which is not
commonly found in other training facilities,” he said.
The location also made Go realize
that he made the right decision. “Instead of a resort in Laguna
which requires about more than two hours’ travel time, it now
takes us less than an hour from our New Manila office to reach MMLDC.
We are able to utilize an exclusive venue while saving a lot of
time, money, and effort,” he said.
“In one of our training
sessions, a participant had to be rushed to the hospital. The MMLDC
nurse, staff, as well as drivers were all there to help. It was a
great moment in experiencing the MMLDC brand,” he reminisced.
