Tesoro group unveils new ‘baby’

MARIA ISABEL TESORO, better known as Beng, maybe the “baby” of the family, but she is certainly up in front when it comes to the family business. The Assumption-educated young lady is the CEO of the Tesoro’s Group of Companies, which includes the flagship handicrafts chain bearing the family name.

Recently, Beng led her siblings, relatives, close friends and business partners in unveiling their newest “baby,” the 882 Paseo Tesoro, a modern 3-story building on A. Arnaiz Avenue in Makati City.

The new building, designed by Jonathan Gan and Associates, built by Cardian Builders and project managed by Design XI, stands out among extant buildings in the area with its unique concave frontage which allows maximum frontage. The floor to ceiling atrium creates an airy, naturally-lit and inviting façade.

No less than Senator Mar Roxas, a close friend of the Tesoros, and Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay led the inaugural rites officiated by Fr. Tony Lazaro, OFM. With Beng were sisters Alice Guerrero, Atty. Lulu Castañeda, Mita Gutierrez, Dettie Carunungan and Dolly Tesoro, and brother Atty. Tito Tesoro. Another brother, Bobby, was abroad.

The imposing building was constructed on only 580 square-meter land area but its unique design and configuration make it look bigger. With frontage of only 20 meters, Architect Gan cleverly opened the building’s center with a ground-to-third-floor atrium, placed the stairs on the rear, installed a glass-enclosed elevator beside the stairwell, and finally capped the atrium with a fan-shaped polycarbonate roofed trellis for maximum natural lighting and ventilation. 882 Paseo Tesoro has a spacious basement parking for the convenience of tenants and their customers.

Seen at the inaugural event were Mellie Ablaza, Baby de Jesus, Hi Society, Nene Leonor, Patis Tesoro, Tessie Rodrigo, Myrna Borromeo, Helen Ong, Carrie Bautista, Nellie Bengzon, Pitang Tiongson, Jaime Laya, Vic Agustin, Ramon Arnaiz, Mars Lambino and Boysie Villavicencio.
