DJ Missill: One night only

HER light touch and impeccable ear are ready to take the world by storm and impose herself and her style in a male-dominated milieu. Missill’s album superposes acapella ragga and breakbeat, and reinvents the best of hip-hop and electro. It would almost be an understatement to say that this young woman is bright and talented.

She has more than one string to her harp, as she is also a graphic designer, graffer and painter. As a resident since 1999 in two famous French clubs in Paris: Batofar and Glaz’art, she has had the time to practice her skills and has had many opportunities to play along side with the best: Carl Craig, DJ Vadim, Fingathing, Ty, Horace Handy, Mike Ladd, Orishas, DJ Format and M.I.A. She was also widely recognized after her appearance in Chile’s “Transmusicals” festival.

The sheer energy she possesses rumbles out of your speakers like an express train. Musically, it’s a full-on, sense-shredding orgy of hip-hop, grime, ragga, dancehall, breaks and electro will have you gasping for air and possibly wanting more. She’s definitely got the skills. This set is feisty, fun and maybe the future too.

With already over 99 shows to her active abroad, and plenty more to come, she is focusing on developing especially in Germany, Italy, Spain, Japan and the United Kingdom. She’s also got her hands on some blinding tracks for her debut album. Mash up comes raw and edgy with a heavy underground sound, reproducing on CD Missill’s eclectic and very energetic DJ sets. Prepare to blast your head off!

Tonight, DJ Missil will fire up the hippest club in town, Embassy. Catch her.

Alliance Française will host a live art graffiti-workshop with DJ Missill and Filipino graffers. For more information, call 895-7441 or 895-7585.
