TUGUEGARAO CITY: The provincial government of
Cagayan will lead the celebration in simple ceremonies of the 424th
founding anniversary of its civil government on June 22 to 29 this
year.
Edna Junio, provincial
administrator for operation, said despite the still unsettled
political situation after the May 14 elections, Cagayanos will
commemorate the occasion if only to perpetuate the struggles that
went with the province’s development through the years.
The weeklong celebration will
feature the following: business fora to further enhance the economic
development of the province, sportsfest which will highlight on the
province’s indigenous games including sepak takraw; Dog Show;
Torch Relay; singing and dancing of indigenous songs and dances; fun
run; lecture series on Cagayan’s culture, arts and traditions;
quiz competitions; and, a fashion show from which Cagayan’s
potential models will be selected.
The celebration of the holy mass
will start the weeklong festivities to venerate the province’s
patron saints Peter and Paul who were among Jesus Christ’s first
apostles.
