THE modern, take-charge woman has arrived! And with
their entrepreneurial-savvy and distinct fashion sense, Allana
Montelibano, Happy Ongpauco and Tania Lichauco prove that women are
truly making their mark in the business world. And the best part is
they can take charge of their careers while looking great in an
array of styles.
Allana, 30, and Happy, 32, are
business partners and co-owners of The Boutique, a romance-themed
hotel and World Topps, a relaxed dining spot known for its
international dishes. Relaxing on the Perea Street branch of World
Topps in Makati, the two friends handle their businesses according
to individual strengths. “We’re a happy partnership,” Happy
enthuses.
Allana oversees marketing and PR.
On the other hand, Happy takes charge of operations. Besides The
Boutique and World Topps, she also manages her Hawaaiian BBQ
Restaurants in Boracay and Tagaytay, thanks to a strong background
in restaurant management, which she owes to her restaurateur father,
Rod Ongpauco, proprietor of popular dining spots like Barrio Fiesta
and Bakahan at Manukan.
Outside of work, the two share a
love for jet setting, which led to the inception of The Boutique.
“We love to travel,” says Happy. “So we thought, why not open
a place we would actually want to go to?” Opened in July 2006, The
Boutique, a hotel whose seven rooms are named after romantic
emotions, epitomizes their ideal vacation spot, a pampering haven
complete with hands-on service from the owners themselves.
Tania Lichauco, 36, managing
firector of the lifestyle store Artemis, is a true master of
multitasking. Named after the Greek goddess of the wilderness,
Artemis showcases world-themed furniture and pieces, including
fabrics and accessories from the East and West, Thailand all the way
to France. “The best part about my job is working with my mom,”
she says. “We get very excited about going on merchandising trips
and finding new items for the store.” In between managing duties
and taking care of her children, 10-year-old Katya and
1-and-a-half-year-old Renzo, Tania has learned to juggle tasks while
pacing her self through taking simple, deep breaths.
It’s all in a day’s work for
Allana, Happy and Tania, who prove that women can stay on top of
their game while looking polished in styles that are just as perfect
for the boardroom as an after-work night out. These are the women
who call the shots, and choose outfits from Anne Klein that define
