CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga: Governor-elect
Eddie Panlilio announced the appointment of Vice-Governor-elect
Joseller Guiao as his primary adviser in handling quarry operations
in the province.
In a press conference held on
Wednesday Panlilio confirmed that Guiao would be his “primary
adviser” on quarry, contrary to his earlier statement to let the
vice-governor handle the quarry operations.
Panlilio said Guiao’s
experience on quarry operations is extensive, even as he noted that
quarry operation is an executive function whereas Guiao handles
legislative tasks.
Reacting to the announcement,
Guiao said he will “maintain his independence” and will not seek
any position in the quarry operations in the province.
Guiao, in an interview, affirmed
he would not compromise any position in monitoring, even in the
check and balance of the quarry operations here. He said he would
continue to focus on his legislative tasks.
Though he appreciated Panlilio’s
announcement, Guiao said that he would wait for an official
appointment coming from the governor.
Earlier, Panlilio announced his
three-member transition team at the capitol in preparation for his
forthcoming oath of office on June 30.
Panlilio formally presented the
lawyers Vivian Dabu as the provincial administrator; Aiza Velez,
provincial attorney; and Archie Reyes as his chief of staff.
“I strongly believe in the
integrity and sincerity of these people and their loyalty to our
crusade for good governance,” Panlilio said.
Dabu, like Velez, was among
Panlilio’s legal counsels in the recent elections. She is also a
certified public accountant.
Panlilio described Dabu as a
known fighter for justice.
Reyes, on the other hand, is one
of Panlilio’s long-time allies who, according to him, is a very
organize person and one who can easily deal with people.
