Notorious kidnapper
in Southern Tagalog falls

THE Philippine National Police Intelligence Group on Wednesday presented before the public an arrested kidnap gang suspect who carries a reward of P250,000 on his head.

The suspect, Joel Dionaldo, alias Entoy Gamba and Barkley, a Waray-Waray member, was arrested by agents of the PNP Intelligence Group last Sunday in Cavite, based on a warrant of arrest issued by Branch 21 of the Imus, Cavite, Regional Trial Court for kidnap for ransom with no bail recommended.

PNP-IG director, Chief Supt. Raul Castañeda, said that Dionaldo who was presented to the members of the press in Camp Crame was arrested late Sunday afternoon in Barangay de Ocampo in Trece Martirez City.

Dionaldo was involved in the kidnapping and murder of Antonio Picones, a restaurant owner in Angono, Rizal, that took place sometime in June 2005; the kidnapping of a Caridad Chua in Imus, Cavite; and a string of robbery and holdup cases.

Chua identified Dionaldo as one of those who “guarded” her for five days while she was in the custody of the group that abducted her on June 28, 2005.

Chua added that her family paid Dionaldo and his companions P450,000 for her release.

Castañeda assured that an informant would get the reward offered for Dionaldo’s arrest.
