Stars came in full force to
the Nickelodeon kids’ choice awards

IT was an ‘orange-letter day’ for all Nicksters who celebrated their power to choose, to let it all out and hailed Angel Locsin as this year’s “Pinoy Wannabe Awardee” during the recently concluded Nickelodeon’s 20th Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA) Preview Party. But besides the record-breaking 42,000 kids who voted, Aliw Theater was jam-packed with a total of 2,600 kids and kids at heart who—together with the biggest stars, biggest stunts, the most outrageous oddballs and larger-than-life entertainment—rejoiced in what was considered the grandest, slimiest mess-fest in all of KCA preview party history!

Even before the gates opened at 1 p.m., kids, their parents and guardians already queued up at the registration, all eager to be part of this milestone event. As they entered, pairs of Nickelodeon pong bong noisemakers, sets of glow-in-the-dark bracelets and temporary KCA tattoos and stickers were given out so the kids could make some Nick beat and have a grand time. There were fun booths like Kids’ Choice Awards Wall of Fame and Photo Op area where anyone could strike a pose amid the background of KCA highlights.

Spotted gracing the orange carpet were ‘Nick fans’ like Mark Gil with his wife Maricar and children Stevie and Gabby; Sherylyn Reyes with kids Paoie and Quirsten; Yayo Aguila and her kids—Patrizha, Dana, Dannielle and Adam Martinez; Angelu de Leon with daughters Nicole and Loise; Lander Vera-Perez with adorable daughters, Reigne and Reigen; Gerard Pizarras and Jan Marini with daughter Rian; and Gladys Reyes and son.

Hosts Sam Concepcion (last year’s Pinoy Wannabe Awardee), the comical and klutzy Nickie plus the Parkour and hip-hop dancers led the slime-packed preview party starting with a retrospection of past KCA hosts, Wannabes, slimed artists, highlights and taking kids’ votes seriously through the years.

Kids went wild when the floor opened up and revealed SpongeBob SquarePants who came all the way from Bikini Bottom to dance to a song from his movie. Kids were also treated to snippets of the KCA 2007 in Los Angeles where Ben Stiller was 2007 Wannabe Awardee and SpongeBob SquarePants got its fifth consecutive blimp as Favorite Cartoon and Drake Bell (Drake & Josh) as Favorite Actor. MTV VJ and charming Anne Curtis announced Black Eyed Peas as the Favorite Group and Justin Timberlake as the Favorite Male Singer, among other winners. Then kids and the hosts simultaneously let out a big long burp in honor of the kids as this year’s burping champion!

Winners of Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards Toy Run promo—Mikko Alfaro, Miggy Panganiban and Seiah Yu—who each won a shopping spree worth P120,000 worth of toys from Toy Kingdom shared their exciting experience with the audience.

Pinoy Wannabe nominees John Lloyd Cruz and Angel Locsin sent in greetings while Makisig Morales gave a super performance (with his group Mak and the Dudes). Christian Bautista, who proudly showed off his SpongeBob necktie, rendered his latest single. Imago’s spirited performance of their hit single “Taralets!” got the audience grooving.’ No one made the Nicksters more animated to stand up, “pound the hammer, drill the floor and shoot the crane” than the loveable Dora The Explorer who helped announce this year’s Pinoy Wannabe winner, Angel Locsin.

Though Makisig Morales didn’t bag the blimp, kids still considered him their hero when he agreed to sit down the humongous slime machine and got slimed silly . . . all in the name of Nickelodeon tradition of messy fun!

The celebration, which ended with a fountain of fireworks and confetti burst, was so the far biggest, slimiest and most outrageous get-together in Philippine KCA history!
