PBL teams in MVBA

CEBU CITY: Two Philippine Basketball League teams have been invited to take part in the First Talk ’N Text Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association, which gets under way tomorrow at the New Cebu City Coliseum.

The presence of Dazz ’Sang Patak and Burger King is expected to further heighten the action and excitement in the five-day event—the first provincial tournament under the Samahang Basketball ng Pilipinas headed by telecommunications tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan.

Dazz, handled by veteran coach Jun Noel and managed by Bernard Yang, will be reinforced by Beau Belga, Chad Alonzo and back-to-back Finals MVP Chico Lañete, who all played key roles in Harbour Centre’s title-clinching win in the PBL Unity Cup.

That win cemented Harbour’s status as one of the most successful ballclubs in the PBL.
Larry Rodriguez and local hotshots Reed Juntilla and Ardy Larong are the other mainstays of the Dazz squad out to regain its once lofty billing in the region.

Dazz will face the highly-touted M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala in opening game starting at 3:30 p.m. while Burger King collides with Misamis Oriental at 5:30 p.m.
JR Quiñahan teams up with former PBL MVP Joe Calvin Devance as the Burger King Whoppers attempt to win the event.
