San Juan celebrates Feast of St. John

FIRETRUCKS hosed down hundreds of people who were dancing and celebrating on the streets of San Juan City during the annual “Wattah Wattah” festival or the Feast of St. John the Baptist on Sunday.

San Juan Mayor Joseph Victor Ejercito, also drenched, said the revelry was also an advance victory party for the people because it coincided with the cityhood of San Juan, which was decided by a plebiscite two weeks ago.

Speaking in Pilipino, Ejercito said the people are excited about San Juan finally becoming a full-fledged city.

On Saturday night, the eve of the fiesta, a rock concert was held at the city’s gymnasium where rock bands Imago, Session Road, Blue Ketchup, Typecast and Dictalicense performed.

As of press time, there were no reports of violence even if people fully dressed for Sunday office were drenched with water.
