THE Genuine Opposition introduced on Friday what is
described as an “unbeatable candidate” to square off with the
President’s son, Diosdado “Dato” Arroyo, in Camarines Sur’s
First District.
Adel Tamano, spokesman for GO,
presented to the media Sabas Abang Mabulos, who is winding up his
last term as mayor of San Fernando, Camarines Sur, as its bet.
“We are fielding in a man who
has never been beaten in the mayoralty post of San Fernando. He is
unbeatable,” Tamano said of Mabulos.
The soft-spoken Mabulos said his
candidacy “is the fruit of a broad consultation.”
GO also introduced its candidates
for the three top positions in Aklan.
Mabeth Garcia, who was the
provincial campaign manager of President Arroyo in the 2004
presidential elections, is GO’s congressional candidate; Victoria
Ramos will run for governor; and Billie Calizo, the provincial
chairman of the Nacionalista Party, will run for vice-governor,
Makati City Mayor Jejomar Binay, president of the United Opposition,
said.
Mabulos said one of the biggest
“weaknesses” of Dato Arroyo was that he was never a native of
Camarines Sur. “He is not from there which is why he has weak
endorsements. In this fight, the people should see who deserves to
lead,” he said.
