Our feature interior today is the residence of Victor
Ruel L. Pambid, Jr. who’s Jie to his friends, interior design
colleagues, clients and students. This celebrity designer is an
academician, former dean and now external affairs director of the
Philippine School of Interior Design, an active interior design
practitioner and also a columnist of My Home magazine. Since year
2000 Jie’s home is at the 6th floor of the Kingswood condominium
in Vito Cruz Extension corner Pasong Tamo, Makati. A 3-bedroom unit
which passed his taste and he felt comfortable when he first saw the
shell. The concealed kitchen and laundry area is a plus factor to
what he looks for. So from the condominium shell, he designed his
home with in his taste in making it warm and cozy. His over-all
design concept is a fusion of filipino and balinese elements. a lot
concentrates on the use of wood in dark and walnut finishes and very
warm and earth colors. soft furnishings and furniture border on the
practical and the comfortable. lighting is also kept at very warm
values to give the feel of a soothing and relaxing home to come home
to at the end of the day. He occupies 1 room, the other room is for
Lou Quisano, his long time friend during college days in UST, who
was also influenced taking up interior design, and the 3rd room was
created to be his office. Most of his furnitures and accessories are
pieces from Bali and Vigan. A wall mural at the dining area was done
by his former student now his colleague, Oliver Menor. His built-in
furnitures and other renovation works by his long time, contractor,

This busy designer says
that after a hectic day, he loves coming home, to lie in his
comfortable bed.
The columnist is a practicing
interior designer. She teaches interior design at the University of
Santo Tomas College of Fine Arts and Design and is also the
supervisor of the UST Beato Angelico Gallery. She is also an
