One hundred
and twenty string musicians, three philharmonic orchestras,
ballerinas and danseurs as well as a soprano and pianist all on
stage. Vivaldi played by a sea of rondallas. From Bach to Beatles to
Copeland’s “Hoe Down.” Violinist Coke Bolipata, cellist Renato
Lucas, French classical guitarist Thibault Cauvin and German
violinist Angelo Bard. All this for one night only. There are
literally more than a hundred reasons why you can’t afford to miss
Virtuoso Strings at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) on
March 9 at 8 p.m.
Virtuoso
Strings is the follow up to last year’s Virtuosos, A Wealth of
Piano Masters, also made possible by BNP Paribas, France’s leading
bank and staunch supporter of the arts with the support of Alliance
Fracaise de Manille, the Johann Strauss Society and Peninsula
Manila. Just as with last year’s concert, the event is for the
benefit of the CCP that truly deserves and needs our support not
only for maintaining its facilities for its resident companies such
as the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, Ballet Philippines,
Tanghalang Pilipino, Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group and many others
but also for its effective outreach activities such as developing
community orchestras and art therapy for children traumatized by
conflict under its Arts for thee People Program. Generosity will be
rewarded with music on March 9. As CCP President Nestor Jardin
notes, “Music enables.” Feel the hands of a multitude of
geniuses pluck strum and stroke your heartstrings as you give life
to the CCP with your participation.
