KELLY Whitney, San Miguel’s import for the Talk
’N Text-PBA Fiesta Conference, was ruled ineligible to play for
the league’s season-ending tournament after he was measured to be
over the required height limit Tuesday.
The 200-lbs forward from Chicago
measured 6'-6 7/16'’ slightly over the allowable 6-6 ceiling for
imports this conference.
“Mr. Whitney failed to meet the
height requirement of 6-6 and so he is ineligible to play for the
Fiesta Conference,” said PBA technical department chief Perry
Martinez, who supervised the proceeding.

Ravanes said Whitney’s replacement will be coming as soon as
possible but refused to provide any details about him.
The Beermen open its campaign on
Friday against defending champion Red Bull Barakos.
Ravanes said Vidal Messiah an
American who reportedly played for the Canadian national team might
play as a substitute import on Friday. Messiah has been scheduled
for measurement tomorrow morning.
Besides Whitney, Rosell Ellis of
Alaska and Rod Nealy of Ginebra also were measured yesterday. Ellis
stood at 6'-4 3/4" while Nealy was measured 6'-4 7/8.”
