BAGUIO CITY: The city government
in cooperation with non-government organizations will offer religion
and tourism related activities to Christian devotees and visitors
this April in observance of the Lenten season.
Former city
councilor Nars Padilla, a member of the Baguio Centennial Commission
(BCC), said the month-long activities dubbed as “Kafagway” (the
first name of this city before the Americans came in the early
1900s) is co-sponsored by the National Correspondents Club of Baguio
(NCCB) and Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Church.
The “Kafagway,”
in its fifth edition this year, will include the elaborate
preparations of the observance of Palm Sunday, guided tours to the
churches, Good Friday, Easter Sunrise Mass at the Burnham Park
lagoon, and Fluvial Procession.
As an added
tourism-related activities, there will be the annual “Quest for
the Lucky Baguio Foreign Visitors” where those selected will be
given the red carpet welcome and treatment like the presentation of
the symbolic key of Baguio.
