Kingston HyperX
PC6400 800MHz

We were excited at Tech Times upon receiving the latest Kingston HyperX PC2-6400 1GB dual-channel memory kit directly from Taiwan. The box came just in time as we were setting up the 2nd test lab unit equipped with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and Asus P5B-E motherboard.

Kingston is a well-known company when it comes to PC memory. They are one of the best brands out there in the PC market and using their memory modules guarantee high quality and reliability.

Although we’ve used Kingston memory modules many times, this will be the first time that Tech Times will get a taste of the HyperX model.

The Kingston HyperX with model code KHX6400D2K2/1G is a low latency kit and programmed to work at 800MHz DDR2 specification of CAS 5-5-5-15 2T with 1.9v. It is also designed to support multicore CPU platform as well as SLI systems. For overclockers out there, the timings on this pair of HyperX’ can be manually adjusted to improve the needed performance. However, for normal users, even without overclocking the PC, the memory modules will work perfectly fine.

The memory kit features an attractive blue heat spreaders equipped with two strong retaining clips that improves contact, allowing the heat spreaders to ensure safe operating temperature for the memory chips.

Working well with our Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 on an Asus P5B-E motherboard with an Intel 965 chipset, the Kingston HyperX KHX6400D2K2/1G is an excellent memory kit.

We would have wanted to test the modules on our other Core 2 Duo test lab unit equipped with an Asus PN32E SLI Premium mobo. Unfortunately, we only had one SLI Asus graphics card at the time of testing. Nevertheless, what the KHX6400D2K2/1G provided on the available test lab unit, is performance ideal for today’s current PC setup as well as incredible value for money. --Jing Garcia
