THE prelude to the Holy Grail of
Manila’s chic set showcased their fashion-forward pieces at the
Palm Grove restaurant of the Rockwell Club. Together with Globe
Telecom’s premier lifestyle brand, Globe Platinum, Grupo La Copa
brings a fashion concept targeted on those in constant search of a
style track the city might be lacking—retail wear where the mix of
global household brands include Anna Sui, CNC Costume National, Elie
Tahari, Gianfranco Ferre, Jill Stuart, Malandrino, Marc Jacobs, See
by Chloe and many more designers.
The idea is not wholly grounded
on high-end brands as independent local designers add items that
would best fit the store’s overall attitude. Co-owner Melanie Go
exclaims that there would be “no excuse for thirsty fashionistas
not to look good.” Whether your personal style rebounds on the
classic minimalist side or you feel quirky in expressing your
fashion personality through more eccentric pieces, there’s a
definitive item in their selections.
The store is based on a fuller
fashion experience upon having in-house stylists and personal
assistants rendering their creative suggestions for the uptown
girl’s vision of what look she would like to enhance or perhaps
emulate. From bell-sleeved blousons to very trendy updated
sixties’ minidresses in basic shades, white tops with peasant or
Edwardian detailing, empire-cut chiffon and faille halter dresses
above the knees, the waist-watching cinch with a band or a wide
belt, black and white, and all that is dazzling for the summer of
2007, seeing the handpicked ensembles on the runway gave a visual
enigma wherein I was transported to the concept stores of Sass and
Bide in Gold Coast and Searle in Manhattan. It’s a breath of Soho
to refresh the shopping butterflies of the metro.
Foreseeing the buzz from the
simulated presentation of their concept, couture houses will be
given a run soon upon chancing on La Copa, where the celebration of
individuality and originality will be housed at the posh penthouse
of the Mancor Corporate Center at the Bonifacio Global City soon.
Now that the holy grail is laid out on a stroll, one’s final quest
would be to dive in the cup of fashion finds to quench that thirst
for what it’s worth.
