The newly installed chief of police of Muntinlupa City has ordered a
major reshuffle of ranking police officers in the city two weeks
after the controversial removal of the former police chief.
Supt. Edgar Ferrater said 10
officers were relieved and reassigned to new posts to “effect a
better impression on the reputation of policemen.”
Ferrater has replaced former
chief of police, Supt. Mario Espino, who said he was booted out
through the lobbying of Rep. Ruffy Biazon of Muntinlupa.
Biazon has denied the charge and
pointed to his political foes as the ones who pressured Espino, who
was rumored to be closely linked to a local official, to leave his
post.
Ferrater said the officers who
were reshuffled were Supt. Michael Bisagas, Chief Insp. Bogard Arao,
Senior Insp. Cenen Cuaresma, Senior Insp. Arsenio Silungan, Senior
Insp. Ernesto Eco, Senior Insp. Rodolfo Rosales, Chief Insp. Ariel
Sanchez, Chief Insp. Macario Mailon, Insp. Alfredo Aninipot and
Insp. Winefredo Mercado.
Bisagas is the deputy chief of
police for operations after heading the traffic enforcement unit,
while Arao, former commander of the police community precinct, was
reassigned as chief of the intelligence section.
Other posts affected in the
revamp are the Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT) unit,
Community Police Assistance Center 2, Station Anti-Illegal Drugs
Special Operations Task Force and Police Community Precincts 1 and
4, Community Police Assistance Center 1 (Compac 1) and the Logistics
Section.
Ferrater said the restructuring
of the police posts is part of his plans to straighten out the
police line up and provide opportunities to these officers to prove
their worth.
Ferrater said he has a stern
warning to his men to stop, “if there is any, the act of taking
money from bus, jeepney and tricycle drivers.”
“All drivers should be punished
if they are traffic offenders,” he said.
Ferrater’s first order of
business was to review all standing arrest warrants of the city’s
most wanted men and assign them to his officers.
Last week Police Officer 3 Hector
Himbing arrested three of the most-wanted criminals in the city, and
the fourth being a former employee of JRS Express.
Ferrater said the suspect, Jennie
Parducho, is charged with qualified theft after she stole the
remittances of her company amounting to P46,000 seven years ago.
Himbing arrested Parducho in
Tanauan, Batangas, according to Ferrater.
