DEFENDING men’s champion Adamson University downed De La Salle-Dasmariñas,
21-13, 21-11, on Wednesday in the Luzon eliminations of the 2007
Nestea Beach Volleyball at the La Salle-Greenhills.
Veterans Mike Alinsunurin and
Sherwin Meneses combined for 7 aces, 14 spikes and 6 blocks to beat
Ronnie Borlagdatan and Almahde Hamid.
In the women’s division,
Cathlea Villaluz and Arlene Bernardo of the Philippine Christian
University pulled off a 21-12, 21-13 upset win over reigning
champion College of St. Benilde early in the day.
“We never expected it to be
that easy. We played good today and our preparation for this
tournament was quite long and we hope we can sustain our intensity
despite the summer heat,” said the 24-year-old Villaluz, who also
steered the PCU Lady Dolphins in this year’s National Collegiate
Athletic Association title.
