Consumers see a better year in ’07

The latest Consumer Expectation Survey conducted by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, its first nationwide, showed less pessimistic outlook for the Philippine economy and family financial situation in the second quarter of the year than in the first quarter despite election-related concerns about peace and order.

BSP’s survey revealed improvement in the overall consumer confidence index for the whole country to -11.1 percent in the second quarter from -33.3 percent for the first quarter this year. Moreover, consumers expressed bullishness for the next 12 months with a confidence index of 0.8 percent.
