Presidential son and incumbent
Rep. Juan Miguel Arroyo of Pampanga has announced his bid for
reelection as congressman of the Second District and will be filing
his certificate of candidacy today at the Commission on Elections
Provincial Office in San Fernando City.
Before filing his candidacy,
Arroyo will hear Mass at the Metropolitan Cathedral, San Fernando
City, at 9 a.m. where he is expected to receive a blessing from his
spiritual adviser, Father Rudy de Guzman, parish priest of Saint
Agustin Church.
Arroyo vowed he would remain
active during the campaign period by meeting with his Cabalen and
presenting to them his accomplishments in the Thirteenth Congress.
He flaunted he “successfully”
defended the budget of five government agencies, including the
Presidential Commission Against Graft and Corruption (PAGC) since
2004.
During the 2007 national budget
hearings, Arroyo sponsored the PAGC proposed expenditures without
any questions from the minority bloc.
He also co-authored 96
legislative measures, including the fiscal reforms program initiated
by President Arroyo.
Arroyo said he would use the
campaign period to consult with residents of Floridablanca, Guagua,
Lubao, Porac and Sasmuan on what more is needed to be done in the
district by their representative in Congress for the second term.
“I will conduct a series of
consultation with my people from the barangay level to assess what
they want and attend to their needs. I will devote my time to my
constituents during the campaign period to get their pulse,”
Arroyo said.
He was elated that his
constituents had given him the opportunity to be their voice in the
House of Representatives and vowed to improve his performance. “I
will work hard and try my very best,” he said.
