THE world-class artistry of Filipino jewelers took
center stage at the 18th anniversary dinner-dance affair of Club
Bulakeño at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza.
Aptly titled “Hiyas,” the
gala event paid tribute to outstanding Filipino jewelry creators,
specifically Arnel Papa, who comes from a well-respected family in
Bulacan.
In line with this year’s theme,
the ladies led by incoming president Kim Bernardo-Lokin wore elegant
ternos inspired by gem colors. The traditional rigodon de honor was
given an upbeat and contemporary twist by choreographer Budjing
Danao, and the participants superbly showcased the elegance of the
terno and the brilliance of locally crafted precious blings! Pretty
Rosabel Lopez Nazal, this year’s muse, wore a frothy gown designed
by Rajo Laurel.
Prominent Bulakeños graced the
glittering gala. Enjoying the evening were Mayor Jejomar and Elenita
Binay of Makati, Rustan’s president Rico Tantoco and wife Nena,
Representative Cynthia A. Villar, former Senator Nikki Coseteng,
Bulacan Representative Nene Nicolas, former Bulacan Gov. Obet
Pagdanganan and wife Susan, Club Bulakeño founders Gene and Lydia
Reyes, Lions Club Governor Baby Ortiz, Love 14 president Chacha
Camacho, Nandy and Baby de Jesus, Bert and Nonie Basilio, Marietta
Holmgren, Bert Castro, Yolly Ayson, Danny Jacinto, John Gaddi, Sonny
Tanchangco, Virma Vergel de Dios, Ofelia Trinidad, Mars Lambino,
Irma Ponce Enrile Potenciano, Ben de Jesus, Pido Villanueva, Cynthia
Reyes, Philip Beley, Lia Bautista, Jorge Hizon, Brenda Cancio, Alma
Larsen, Manny Almelor, Linda Cruz, Jun and Sol Tan-Gatue, Lyn
Motohashi, Ogie Villamar, Ed and Baby Tan, Gion Gounet, Pocholo
Martinez, Lulu Moguel and Chuchi Villar.
Providing the youthful zest and
energy to the affair were the children of Club Bulakeño stalwarts,
as well as the incoming queen and past muses of the club. Among them
were Rona Vergel de Dios, Roseann Guerrero, Isa Palabyab, Jonina
Tanchangco, IC Trinidad, Christina Gomez, Juna Cadungog, Ana
Manalastas and Sarah Ruth Salcedo.
The proceeds from this year’s
ball will go to the club’s ongoing scholarship program and medical
mission for indigent families in Bulacan, as well as provide the
seed money for their new flagship project, a 50-house Gawad Kalinga-Club
Bulakeño Community in Angat, Bulacan.
