CEBU Pacific, the airline unit of Gokongwei
family-led JG Summit Holdings Inc., said it has partnered with a
European car rental company to provide in-land transport service for
the carrier’s passengers.
Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific vice
president for marketing, said the carrier is making Europcar its
exclusive in-land transport service for domestic and regional
destinations.
“We know that this is another
good way for us to show our passengers that we are dedicated to
giving them the best in value-for-money services,” Iyog said.
Socorro Clavano, Europcar
Philippines president, said the company will be deploying an initial
150 units in Manila and Cebu for the international and domestic
airports, with plans of expanding the service in Davao, Iloilo,
Cagayan and Bacolod.
Cebu Pacific passengers who want
to avail of the Europcar service would just have to log on to the
carrier’s website, or through its customer service hotlines and
accredited travel agents.
Clavano said the company would
offer both chauffeur-driven and self-driven units.
She said the service would not be
as expensive as those offered by other car rental services.
“The trend now is budget fares
but it need not be expensive and you can get quality service at a
very reasonable price,” she told reporters.
Clavano said Europcar is
targeting an initial 3- to 4-percent share from the 22,000 daily
passengers of Cebu Pacific.
Cebu Pacific has regular flights
to Cebu, Davao, Laoag, Dipolog, General Santos, Legazpi and its
international flights include Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Hong
Kong, Incheon, Pusan and in a few months Taipei.
Europcar has a presence in 170
countries and has a fleet of 220,000 vehicles.
