Erap supporter doesn’t
like being left out in the cold

By Francis Earl A. Cueto, Reporter

A supporter of former President Joseph Estrada on Wednesday lashed out at officials of the Genuine Opposition for easing him out after the Partido ng Masang Pilipino transferred its headquarters from Mandaluyong City to Makati City.

At a forum in Club Filipino in Greenhills, San Juan, Linggoy Alcuaz, PMP campaign leader, vented his ire on GO campaign manager Sen. Sergio Osmeña and spokesman Adel Tamano.

“They kept us in the dark. I’m calling on [UNO Chairman Jejomar] Binay and Erap [Joseph Estrada] to restore democracy in the opposition. PMP is among key organizers of UNO, which consortium gave birth GO,” Alcuaz said.

He said only Estrada could remove him as liaison officer.

“We’ve to show them some muscle because they treat kindness as a weakness. I’m prepared to go all the way. They will take the fire from me,” Alcuaz warned.

In a press briefing at GO headquarters, deputy campaign manager and San Juan Mayor Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito brushed aside Alcuaz’s claim and said the issued should not affect the operations of the coalition.

“It’s an internal thing. I think it should not affect the overall function [of GO],” Ejercito said.

He belied the accusation of Alcuaz that he was junked by Osmena, saying that “only candidates are junked.”

“The bottom line is that our senatorial candidates are occupying the top spots in the poll surveys,” Ejercito said.

Alcuaz said Osmeña never told him about the transfer of GO’s operations center.

Ejercito said the new headquarters of GO on the third floor of the Manila Bank building on Ayala Avenue would serve as a nerve center and media bureau of the opposition for the rest of the campaign.

“Our transfer here only shows that we are slowly being more mature and more organized,” he said.

Tamano said it is not his duty to inform Alcuaz but of the coalition’s media bureau.

“In fact, the 409 people volunteered to bring in one of their men to work here,” Tamano said.

He said Alcuaz is just one man and “does not represent the whole PMP.”
