Failure blamed on very low bids

Govt auction for old Iloilo airport fails

The Department of Finance has declared Wednesday’s auction of the 54-heactare old Iloilo airport a failure after none of the three bidders offered to buy the property at above the minimum price set by the government.

“We are declaring the bidding a failure and we will contemplate on our next move,” said Finance Undersecretary John Philip Sevilla, officer in charge of the government’s privatization program.
