A diesel like no
other |
|
In the BMW 320d, an unlikely brew provides an
intoxicating drive |
|
By Brian Afuang
Here’s a bit of trivia:
Strictly speaking “diesel” refers to a type of engine invented
by a bloke named Rudolph Diesel and not specifically to the brew
used to fuel it. Fact is, a diesel engine could actually run on
either a petroleum-based fuel—which eventually became widely known
as “diesel” too—or on a variety of plant-based oils including
those used in cooking French fries in. Vin Diesel, meanwhile, is a
Hollywood ham actor who has had a string of commercially successful
flicks, while I haven’t the foggiest idea how the clothing brand
Diesel came about.
What has these got to do with
everything? Not much, really. All I care is diesel—both engine and
fuel—can be such potently thrilling stuff when they’re used in
powering BMW’s 320d. Hell, yeah.
