Military stays away
from GMA-resign call |
|
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is
distancing itself from the calls of a multisectoral group for
President Gloria Arroyo and Vice-President Noli de Castro, Senate
President Manuel Villar and House Speaker Jose de Venecia to allow a
transition government headed by Supreme Court Justice Reynaldo Puno.
In a Philippine News Agency
report, AFP public information office chief Lt. Col. Bartolome
Bacarro said the 120,000-strong military establishment is not making
a comment on the call of the group, headed by former Vice-President
Teofisto Guingona and Bishops Julio Xavier Labayen, Antonio Tobias,
and Deogracias Yńiguez, saying that is a political matter.
