Tropical depression Ineng poses weeklong rain

By Frank Lloyd Tiongson, Correspondent

AFTER tropical storm Hanna, tropical depression Ineng is poised to deliver heavy precipitation throughout the week.

Although practically stationary, Ineng will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon, according to Pagasa weather branch chief Nathaniel Cruz.

Located 725 kilometers east of Northern Luzon as yesterday afternoon, Ineng is expected and bring heavy rains, particularly in the western section of the archipelago. It bears maximum sustained winds of 55kph near its center.

Pagasa expects Ineng to remain stationary, unless another weather system influences it to develop into a tropical storm and move towards Luzon.

Pagasa forecasts mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds from the Southwest are forecast to prevail over Luzon and Western Visayas. Coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. The rest of the country will experience light to moderate winds from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas in these areas.
