Abalos elects retirement
|
|
COMELEC Chairman Benjamin Abalos’s resignation ends his public
career but not the public interest in the controversial contract
between the Philippine Government and the Chinese firm ZTE Corp. for
a $330-million national broadband project for the exclusive use of
the state and its agencies.
Abalos said in his resignation statement that
his leaving was not an admission of guilt but was meant to spare the
commission from further controversy over the deal.
