Geoff Eigenmann focuses on keeping fit

By Ricky T. Gallardo

Geoff Eigenmann

ACCORDING to her award-winning actress-mom, Gina Alajar, matinee idol Geoff Eigenmann is addicted to boxing. “His day is never complete without going to Elorde’s to box with his brother Ryan, his cousin Sid [Lucero] and friends. Geoff has been fascinated with boxing since it was introduced to him. He has lost a significant amount of weight and he says he feels better, fitter and lighter.”

“I look forward to every trip to the gym where I box. There, I am myself, I sweat a lot, burn all the excess calories and I get really focused,” Geoff says. The second son of Gina and ex-husband Michael de Mesa is very much aware that the business he chose is one that puts a high premium on visuals. “I am a third-generation actor and ever since I was young, I already knew that the acting business puts a lot more weight on the physical aspects of a celebrity. That’s why I have to always be conscious of how I look since television and the big screen can add a lot more poundage to an actor.”

Undergarment brand Hanford chanced upon a much slimmer, fitter Geoff and it was so timely that the brand was in search of its newest celebrity endorser. So the owners lost no time in calling a meeting and before Geoff knows it, he was already being whisked to his first photo shoot for the brand.

“Of course, I had butterflies in my tummy during the shoot. But what a sigh of relief when they told me that that particular session was a teaser of sorts, and I wouldn’t be required to go sexy, well, not yet,” he reveals.

“I welcome this big step in my career since it also motivates and inspires me to continue focusing on keeping fit and healthy. It will be a shame if I don’t live up to the standards of being an underwear model if I cannot show some skin, right?” he adds.

Geoff also stresses that one doesn’t have to bare it all to be sexy. “There are different ways of defining sexy. For me, it should be natural, spontaneous, and free flowing, Mahirap yung pilit at may effort. I believe you can be sexy without showing much. A smile can be sexy, a look, even a blank stare can be sexy.”

Per Sincerely Te, owner of the brand, Geoff was chosen because of his positive image. “Marketing wise, this is a challenge and a great leap for Hanford as it tries to capture a younger and more hip market that Geoff clearly represents. For half a century now, Hanford has been constantly setting the trend and leading the pack in the Philippine undergarment industry. Our brand likes to evolve and with Geoff around, we think we will be able to redefine our brand and our products

Geoff joins a list of other Hanford models who have in the past, given prominence to the brand. Take these names: Alex Compton, Carlos Agassi, Luke Mejares and Dingdong Dantes.

“I’m so happy to have started this partnership with the brand. And as for the initial batch of conservative photos, I can only say: You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
