Who Wears What

Dawn Zulueta’s second wind

DAWN ZULUETA-LAGDAMEO continues to be a hot item even after her long hiatus because of motherhood. And the face that launched a dozen ads in the nineties is back in the endorsement arena.

“I am very particular about the brand and products that I endorse. For me, credibility is of utmost importance. I have to try the product first and like it before I put my name on it,” she explains, very matter-of-factly.

One such brand is Meg, with a reputation of being a Filipino-made fashion line catered especially for the Filipino woman. “The designs are still very much conservative but stylish, tailor-fit for the modern Filipino who enjoys fashion and is undaunted to express her individuality,” she adds.

Besides the basic pieces that Meg is known for, the collection boasts of other accessories like shoes and bags. The brand promises to continue the values of affordability and comfort this season. The usual flair for color and the impeccable attention to construction and material is the formula to Meg’s success. With Dawn around, the brand is sure to switch to the next level and become more regionally competitive.

It’s about time for Enchong Dee

HE was lured from competitive swimming to the hallways of entertainment and modeling. Swimming sensation Enchong Dee was content doing laps on the pool every day before he was thrown into the ocean of glitz and glamour.

“Initially, I resisted but doors were opening one by one and I told myself that I might just have to make the most out of it. I’m still young anyway and I should explore all possibilities,” he rationalizes. Actually, it was Enchong’s big brother AJ who has the hots for show business. AJ even joined a search in a now-defunct noontime show just to try his luck in the business. But life has its little surprises and Enchong is now more famous than his brother, whose star never seemed to reach its potential brightness.

Lucky for Enchong, the watch brand Timex spotted his promise and signed him up right away as a young ambassador for the brand. The brand’s collection for men has several styles that fits Enchong’s time requirements and adds the right touch to his boyish looks.

The Timex T-Series Chronograph Chrono function measures seconds, minutes and hours, perfect for an active athlete like Enchong. It has the statement Indigo night-light with a stainless steel case, a stainless steel bracelet, and is also water resistant up to 100 meters—perfect for the guy who loves water and water sports.

The Timex T Series is a classic blend of traditional design with contemporary details and technological innovations. Today, these forward-thinking, iconic, classic watches are time’s new modern classic.

“I also like their Men’s Retrograde collection,” Enchong volunteers, adding, “especially the multi eye dial feature with retrograde subdial indicating the day of the week, the date and 24-hour time. Of course, it’s also water resistant.”

In the Philippines, Timex is distributed by Newtrends International Corp. and is sold in more than 300 watch shops nationwide including Timex stores and kiosks and at all Watch Republic outlets.

Jennifer Garcia: The daughter also rises

AT this point, Jennica Garcia doesn’t mind that she still lives in the shadow of her popular actress-mom Jean Garcia. “I’m still young and not of legal age yet, so I need all the guidance that mommy can give,” she says.

Jennica is the product of a love story gone wrong between Jean and former That’s Entertainment sweetheart Jigo Garcia. “I’ve long accepted that some relationships are not meant to last and I’m not taking it against anyone of my parents,” she adds, talking like a mature adult.

With her career on the upswing—as a mainstay of the afternoon drama series Pasan Ko Ang Daigdig and the youth-oriented sitcom Boys Next Door, she is surely marked for bigger things ahead. And with Bonjour de Corp’s recent decision to strengthen brand quality and play top-of-mind status as a casual wear label, the association with the fast-rising young star Jennica could only promise rosier prospects for both the young star and the unknown fashion brand.

It’s all about sense and sensibility—good quality, affordability and design, style that everyone will love—the qualities that Bonjour de Corp, a proudly Filipino label, has in spades. No wonder, Jennica has nothing but praises for the brand she would endorse, “I love the clothes. Especially the tee-shirts, I like their prints. Very comfortable for a young lady like me, very stylish!”

“I hope that I will soon appear on billboards, because I think that’s the dream of every girl like me who likes fashion,” she ends.
