Interior designers take a big step forward

SUDDENLY, some of the country’s top interior designers are taking a leap forward by creating their own furniture lines. More than that, fashion designers—think Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren—have crossed over to home design bringing a whole-new definition of elegance to home interiors.

Our Home, the lifestyle store that offers great designs at great prices has selected lines designed by some of the country’s top interior and fashion designers. Tito Villanueva, Adel Damasco and Dan Lichauco designed furniture and décor pieces for modern spaces, while fashion designer Rajo Laurel adds his creative touch to his bedroom linen lines.

Tito Villanueva deconstructs the sofa

Long known for his eclectic approach, Tito Villanueva, and created cutting-edge interiors by his ability to meld old and new design elements seamlessly.

His dynamism in design is also evident in his Tent Collection for Our Home. For his collection, Tito has designed “a sectoral sofa with relaxed slanted back cushions and an extended chaise lounge that you can convert into different looks by breaking up the pieces of the sofa, making every angle an attractive one.”

Adel Amasco’s colors and blooms

Although her background is in garments and trading, Adel Amasco has also made waves in interior designing. Not bad for someone who started her homeworks as a hobby. More recently, she has ventured into a line of Exotic Interior Blooms for Our Home—sampaguita, potted orchids and succulents.

As a designer, Adel has been unabashed by showing her colors—literally. “There’s no need to change all the furniture in a room for a fresh, new look,” she says. “One can begin by looking at the dominant color in the room and play around it. You’ll be surprised how a change in color and accessories can change the mood of a room.”

Rajo Laurel’s designer linens

As one of the dynamic designers, who have crossed over from fashion to home, Rajo Laurel brings fresh new bed linen designs to Our Home. He brings to this the great sense of style he learned from studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and the prestigious Central St. Martin’s School in London, and from dressing up some of Manila’s most elegant women.

Dan Lichauco’s fab furniture

Dan Lichauco’s design credentials are impeccable with the numerous houses and condominiums, Medical City Hospital, the soon to rise Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health are among his work. Armed with three master’s degrees from the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame, a multidiscipline design firm that includes Planning and Urban Design, Architecture Interior Design and Industrial Design.
