THE Philippine Sports Commission
is confident that the P50-million budget allotted for the
country’s actual participation in the forthcoming SEA Games is
enough.
PSC commissioner and SEAG Task
Force co-chairman Ritchie Garcia said the money can cover the
expenses of the 786 strong delegation composed of 591 athletes, 180
coaches and 15 technical officials.
The government agency will be
spending P70, 000 per delegate. The amount will cover airfare, hotel
accommodation, uniform, equip–ment and allowance.
“We can work with the
P50-million budget because some team sports will pay on their
own,” Garcia said .
Last minute addition, to the
delegation were James Al Mendoza, Benjie Guevarra, Rodolfo Lordan
and Emilio Villariza in billiards and snooker; Nelbert Ducusin,
Rodrigo Tanauan, Emerson Obiena, Eleazar Sumang, Edwin Manansala,
Sharon Jizmundo, Jho-Ann Banayag and Sarah dela Virgo in athletics
and the 14-member men’s futsal squad.
The Philippine Olympic Com-mittee
will approve the final SEAG roster Thursday.
