WE were informed Friday by new National Police chief Avelino Razon Jr. that the PNP had installed at least 56 closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) in strategic places in Metro Manila to monitor street crimes and identify street criminals.

Almost simultaneously, Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim announced a new scheme by the Manila Police District authorities to take pictures of passengers before they board provincial buses.
