Surfing makes waves, promotes tourism

"SURFING, more than any other sport, represents such a pure form of being connected. Waveriding is a unique and powerful experience that you can’t help but appreciate it and enjoy it as much as you possibly can,” says Freddy Gonzalez."

The avid boardsports enthusiast of Filipino descent learned to surf in the late nineties but has come a long way since then. At 29 years old, he is president of Aloha Boardsports Inc. and spearheads a pioneering tourism initiative called Onboard Philippines that aims to promote the country through surfing—allowing local beach-breaks and surf-spots to shine through the eyes of the people who he knows appreciate them the most: the Aloha Boardsports Surf Team.
