The Gospel of Saving according to Real Bank Chairman Jose G. Araullo

Early training

Araullo was born in Guagua, Pampanga, and is the second among the nine children of Dr. Alfonso and Adelaida Araullo. He reveals that he grew up in an environment where saving was a way of life. “When we were kids, my brothers and I were given our respective alkansya [piggy bank],” he recalls with nostalgia. “At Christmas, we will count how much we had saved and my father will double the money of the one with the biggest savings, as a reward.”
