ANIELSEN Media Research survey released last week showed what has become obvious to many TV viewers: a growing number of companies are trying to cash in on the overseas Filipino worker (OFW) market. Judging from the heavy load of ads aired during primetime, OFWs and their families have become the biggest moneymaking machine companies this country has ever seen.

From telecoms to banks, auto companies and real-estate developers, their ad spots are bearing a predominantly OFW flavor, with some advertisers employing the highest-paid celebrity endorsers to do their bidding.
