JdV: End govt corruption

President Gloria Arroyo’s revival of Charter change (Cha-cha) should have endeared her to Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., who had been a strong advocate of amending the 1987 Constitution.

But on Tuesday, de Venecia sounded as if he was critical of the administration.

At the centennial anniversary of the Philippine Assembly, de Venecia called for an “end to corruption” in the government and appealed for a change in the country’s politics “so it could begin to go beyond partisan interests and reflect our highest aspirations for the national community.”
