TOWNS 2007 awardees

 
The Outstanding Women in  Nation’s Service (TOWNS) Foundation recognized as an organization of dynamic and effective women, who in their common shared activities transform  the lives of Filipinos.

Every three years, TOWNS awards are given to Filipino women between 21 to 45 years old who have shown exceptional talent and devotion to their career.

Eleven batches of women professionals have so far reached the TOWNS awards—nine in 1974, eight in 1977, twelve in 1981, fourteen in 1983, twelve in 1986, seventeen in 1989, twelve in 1992, twelve in 1995, ten in 1998, ten in 2001, and twelve in 2004.  The number of awardees is not fixed; recognition is given where it is due, based on the following criteria:  outstanding work that has contributed to the knowledge, well-being  and upliftment of the nation; achievement and recognition by others;  personality worthy of emulation, that is, presentability, confidence, poise, communication skills, dignity, respectability, intellectual and moral integrity, sincerity; commitment and sustained contribution to advocacy; pioneering zeal; social responsibility; leadership; and attitude towards profession or discipline.

Dr. Imelda Villar, TOWNS president and TOWNS Search Partners, Metrobank Card represented by Mr. Aniceto Sobprepena, president of Metrobank Foundation,   presented the 2007 TOWNS awardees at the Museo Pambata recently,  where almost 50 former recipients of the same award attended  like Evelyn R. Singson of eBusiness Services Inc., Atty. Lorna Kapunan,sisters Cheche Lim-Lazaro of PROBE Team and Dr. Nina Lim-Yuson of Museo Pambata, Mel Alonzo, Dr. Raquel Fortun, Amb. Rosalinda Tirona, GMA 7’s Mel Tiangco,  ABS CBN’s Ces Drilon, Bing Carreon-Buck, bowler champ  Bong Coo, Marvie Abesamis, Mina Aquino, Aura Matias, Marlene Tamano, June Lopez,  Chinoy crime fighter Teresita Ang See, book publisher  Karina Bolasco,  journalist Rina David, Donna Casimero, Aleli Arroyo, Atty. Avalyn Ursua, educator Dr. Amelou Benitez-Reyes, Elizabeth dela Fuente, and others.
