The death toll in Friday afternoon’s blast at the Glorietta 2 in Makati City rose to nine after rescuers retrieved the body of a victim near Ground Zero before dawn Saturday.

Makati City Police Chief Supt. Gilbert Cruz said rescuers found the body of Reiner Tan near an escalator near the entrance to Glorietta 2 at 2 a.m. Saturday. The victim was identified by his wife Normita.

Cruz, who stayed overnight in the Glorietta Ground Zero, that he saw a kin of a certain Maureen de Leon who was stone’s throw away from the site after finding out that the rescuers recovered the latter’s wallet.

The Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) has identified the eight bomb explosion fatalities as Anthony Arroyo, Cesar Niño Vidano, Lester Allan Peregrina, Janine Marcos, Jose Allen de Jesus, Maria Celeste Domingo Cruz, Jee Ann De Gracia, and Liza Enriquez.

As of 11 a.m. yesterday, 71 injured victims were discharged from the Makati Medical Center and Ospital ng Makati while 2 others came out in the late afternoon.
