President pardons Estrada |

Convicted president expected to make appearance in
San Juan today
|
|
President Gloria Arroyo pardoned her predecessor, Joseph Estrada, on
Thursday just weeks after he was convicted of plunder and sentenced
to life in jail.
Estrada will be free before noon today, Interior
and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno said.
The announcement came just days after Estrada
asked President Arroyo to grant him a pardon in what his lawyers
called the “national interest.”
