HI! SOCIETY
By Becky Garcia
A taste of the Sutter
Home wine collection

ANOTHER intimate wine dinner was hosted recently by Edna Diaz, the dynamic president of Best World Beverage Brands, at the Paparazzi of EDSA Shangri-La Hotel. The highlight of the evening was a four-course meal prepared by Chef Francesco Rizzo, and the night was overflowing with Sutter Home wines from the house of the Trinchero Family in California.

As starters, select guests were served Melon Carpaccio with Prosciutto and Goat Cheese Tart in balsamic reduction served with a fresh and fruity Sutter Home Chardonnay.

Chef Francesco’s special Mushroom Walnut Tortelli in Asparagus Smoked Chicken Cream Sauce was paired with a crisp and food-friendly Sutter Home Sauvignon Blanc.

Going against the tradition of pairing fish with white wine, the Sutter Home Pinot Noir was a perfect match to the main course, the Roasted Crispy Snapper over vegetable mosaic and pumpkin fondue. This Pinot Noir blends the aromas of cherry, tea and herbal spice. On the palate, it has smooth, silky texture and mild tannins.

To cap the meal was a generous serving of Ricotta Cheese Cake and candied fruits with figs and marsala compote served with a superb, light-bodied Sutter Home Moscato. Made from Muscat grapes, this wine is a good mix of creamy peach and honeydew melon flavors.

Trinchero Family owns the Sutter Home winery in Napa Valley, and boasts of a collection of exceptional wines from California. The collection includes a three-tiered portfolio of Sutter Home wines. Sutter Home’s White Zinfandel, Merlot and Pinot Noir are vinified from grapes grown throughout the leading California estates. The Sutter Home Signature Series features coastal-grown, barrel-aged Chardonnay, Merlot, Cabernet and Zinfandel, while the Sutter Home Limited Release offers superb, limited-production wines from the best appellations in California.

Diaz welcomed wine lovers like Hamish Moore, vice president and GM of JTI Philippines; Sarah McLeod, events director of the British Chamber of Commerce and director of Business Development of the Philippine Business Leaders Forum; Fil Juntereal, former president of the Wine and Food Society of the Philippines; Barbara Cumagun of Philippine Star; Edward Gonda, head buyer of S&R; Noni Mangubat, GM of Bacchus Duty Free; Edwin Macapagal, GM of Italiannis and Jun Doydoy, GM of NUVO.

Cheers!!!
