LARRY RODRIGUEZ turned up as one of the heroes in
Hapee Toothpaste’s back-to-back wins to earn the PBL Press Corps
Player of the Week honors.
The 6-foot-4 forward from
Philippine Maritime Institute scored a game-high 17 points built on
a 7-of-10 shooting from the field for an 80-74 opening-day triumph
versus Mail and More.
Last Saturday, Rodriguez again
came to the rescue by nailing a triple with 3.7 seconds left to lift
Hapee past San Mig Coffee, 80-79.
The clutch basket capped another
strong shooting performance for Rodriguez, who shot 13 points on a
5-of-7 shooting besides collecting 5 rebounds and 4 assists.
“The boys showed determination
to win,” said coach Jun Noel after the Complete Protectors claimed
a share of the lead at 2-0 in the V-Go Extreme Energy Drink Cup.
