Sofitel in overdrive with BMW fleet

Since the internationally renowned French hotel chain took over the Sofitel Philippine Plaza (formerly Westin Philippine Plaza), it has, over the past several months, transformed this fading hospitality duchess into the Queen of Hotels that it once was—now reigning supreme from its choice and unrivalled perch on the edge of the Manila Bay.

Under the stewardship of accomplished and dynamic German general manager Bernd Schneider and his able and affable American-Egyptian deputy Mo Ihsan, the Sofitel is making waves on all fronts, and setting new standards in guest services with innovative products.

In fact the Schneider/Ishan mission is to follow the great traditions of hospitality excellence by providing guests with the ultimate hotel experience in modernity, refinement and absolute comfort with, of course, the French art de vivre thrown in for good measure.

The latest venture in this respect transpired last week when this luxury establishment of the Accor Group extended its 5-star service beyond its magnificent rooms and fabulous Le Bar and ambrosial Spiral restaurant and onto the road with the unveiling of its newest limousine fleet composed of all BMW vehicles.

Sofitel’s awe inspiring line up of BMWs is also a first-of-its-kind—being the one and only all premium diesel limousine fleet in the country.

The Sofitel Philippine Plaza fleet is composed of the new BMW 730Ld long wheel base limousine, which offers substantial leg room and comprehensive luxury specifications including rear seat entertainment, climate controls, stereo controls and privacy screens.

As for the sophisticated traveler, BMW 520d luxury sedans are also available to provide business and leisure guests a much more personalised transport option that not only suits their needs, but matches the standards and personality of the hotel.

The brand-new BMW 7 Series and 5 Series limousines are driven by highly experienced, discreet and knowledgeable drivers trained in the art of gracious service driving by Hertz, the fleet operator of the hotel.

An obviously delighted Andreas Biehler, President of BMW Philippines had this to see: “We are pleased that the Sofitel Philippine Plaza has selected BMW as their hotel limousine fleet. The decision to choose the new BMW 7 Series and 5 Series fleet is recognition of BMW Group’s worldwide reputation and market position in the premium luxury car sector. Moreover, the choice of all-diesel engines underscores the mutual desire of our companies to provide world class luxury services with a strong sense of social responsibility.”

For his part Sofitel Philippine GM Schneider stated: “The Sofitel brand is distinguished worldwide for delivering a unique and luxurious hotel experience. We are delighted with the new vehicles and are confident that they will be appreciated by our guests, be it traveling to and from the airport, business meetings, or a sightseeing trip.”

He added: “For many of our guests, this memorable experience of their stay in our hotel begins and ends with a special limousine service that only a BMW could deliver.”

The Sofitel Philippine Plaza, located on the historic Manila Bay and affording a stunning view of the Manila’s legendary sunset, and is part of the country’s largest convention complex, making it Manila’s only business hotel in a resort setting.

And this latest touch of unbridled motoring luxury will give it yet one more advantage to lure discerning visiting clientele to its warm hospitality embrace.
