What about
the homeless?
The squatters (A slum-free Metro
Manila, Sept. 4) are fortunate because they have a roof over their
heads. What about the nomadic homeless—individuals and
families—who must keep moving to stay away from the law, who sleep
wherever the sunset finds them? There are thousands of them in Metro
Manila. They carry their meager possessions on their bodies or in
primitive carts. Many live and sleep at the Rizal Park, Roxas
Boulevard, the seawalls of Manila Bay and other public places. Who
speaks for the homeless? Who cares?
