EAC Generals post fifth straight win

DASMARIñAS, Cavite: Emilio Aguinaldo College banked on seasoned players John Valderama and Gester Ebuan to post an 89-83 victory over Philippine School of Business Administration Thursday in the sixth Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) men’s basketball tournament at the DLSU-Dasmariñas gym.

Valderama and Ebuen joined hands in a 14-4 run to give the Generals an 80-62 lead, going into the final five minutes.

Valderama finished with 22 points, Ebuen chipped in 12 and Nichole Hubalde added 10 for the Generals, who are two games ahead of the Jaguars (3-2).

Ebuen scored back-to-back baskets to spark EAC’s breakaway from a 66-58 advantage.

“The veterans are always there when you need them,” said Manuel, who took over the coaching chores while head coach Nomar Isla is in Malaysia attending a coaching clinic.

Earlier, Sammy Isidro scored 18 points while Michael Juico had 17 as the Olivarez College Sea Lions clobbered the Las Piñas College Blue Lions, 82-75, for their first win in five games.

Las Piñas absorbed its third loss against two wins.
