Perpetual retains cheerdance crown

By Aileen Tandang MTSJ Student

THE University of Perpetual Help pep squad came up with a brilliant performance on Wednesday to retain the cheerdancing title in the 83rd National Collegiate Athletic Association at the jampacked Araneta Coliseum.

Perpetual’s talented cheerdancers garnered 209 points to win the title for the third straight time since 2004.

The Mapua Cheering Cardinals impressed not only the judges but also the audience with their acrobatic routines and impressive “M formation” to finish second with 208 points.

The Letran Cheering squad, which displayed its own version of the 26K girls with briefcases, placed third with 201 points.

San Sebastian College was fourth, followed by host Jose Rizal University, College of Saint Benilde and San Beda College.

Perpetual received P75,000 as champion while Mapua got P45,000 and Letran P35,000.
