Mayor Wenceslao “Peewee” Trinidad of Pasay City
on Friday ordered the Pasay City Police Force and city traffic
authorities to confiscate stickers bearing the words “Office of
the Mayor-Pasay City” stuck on various vehicles used in the city.
Trinidad issued the directive
after he received reports that there were persons who use the
stickers on their vehicles for personal advantage.
“My office never issued such
stickers. The ones out there now are being misused by some people,
so I’m ordering their immediate confiscation,” Trinidad pointed
out.
He added that a vehicle with an
“OM” sticker—whether government owned or private—may be
given preferential treatment by unsuspecting city workers,
especially by traffic enforcers.
“Whoever issued the stickers
clearly wanted the vehicles to be immediately identified as
connected in some way to my office, and as such, the occupants
therein deserve special privilege. I won’t allow my name and the
Pasay City Mayor’s Office to be used that way. I encourage the
public to report incidents such as this to my office for immediate
action,” Trinidad said.
Since Trinidad returned to office
on July 2, he has worked tirelessly with his new batch of department
heads to put the city back on track and regain the momentum of
moving the city forward that was lost after the “Pasay Siege”
incident a year ago.
